EMDR Intensives

What are EMDR Intensives?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Intensives are extended therapy sessions designed to help individuals process and heal from distressing experiences in a shorter period of time than traditional weekly therapy. This allows for a more immersive and focused approach to resolving trauma and emotional distress. EMDR Intensives are offered as full day, half day, or multiple days of focused EMDR therapy treatment with the intent of reaching your healing goals by the end of that time frame. This approach is unlike standard therapy, where healing occurs incrementally over months.

Who may benefit from an EMDR Intensive?

EMDR Intensives are ideal for individuals who:

  • Feel like their healing is halted or plateaued.
  • Experience persistent anxiety, depression, PTSD which impacts their every day.
  • Have experienced a traumatic event that persistently affects them.
  • Cannot commit to regular sessions due to scheduling constraints.
  • Seek rapid relief from distressing symptoms.

What types of past experiences can an EMDR intensive help with?

EMDR intensives are proven-effective to assist in the processing of many kinds of experiences, including but not limited to:

  • Bullying, discrimination, harassment, marginalization
  • Betrayal or abandonment
  • Loss of a loved one
  • Witnessing or experiencing domestic violence
  • Childhood abuse
  • Life-threatening harm or injury
  • Sexual assault, physical assault, robbery, or other crimes
  • Accidents
  • Natural disasters
  • And much more

Why consider an EMDR Intensive over traditionally formatted therapy?

  1. Quicker Healing and Resolution
    • With longer sessions, you can process through the traumatic event or experience more efficiently, potentially reaching relief in days rather than months.
  1. Less Emotional Disruptions
    • Shorter EMDR sessions can leave you with unresolved feelings or experiences as you head back into your day. You may even feel quite raw emotionally. However, with the longer sessions offered in an intensive, you will have more time and space to work through and resolve the feelings and experiences that brought you in.
  1. Greater Scheduling Flexibility
    • Many people struggle to make time for therapy due to their busy schedules. However, with focused and directed sessions that are completed in a half day, full day or a set of several days healing can be achieved and therapeutic goals accomplished.
